Dark day for Canadian Justice

Wednesday, March 16th, 2005

The 329 people who died in the Air-India bombing have not been done justice.

Ajaib Singh Bagri and Ripudaman Singh Malik are clearly responsible, but I cannot blame the judge for not convicting them given the evidence provided. New evidence has to be found to launch an appeal, though it is not likely that after 20 years new evidence will be found in the 30 day limit to file.

This is clearly a failure of the RCMP and CSIS. Their actions in the 80s were bumbling at best. That said, these agencies have greatly improved since then. A fully public inquiry is not needed, but I believe a full report is warranted. All that is going to come out about this tragedy has come out. Someone should chronicle all that has gone wrong – hearings and panels won’t help – but we can’t allow anything like this to happen again.

Ultimate Google Homepage

Like Google? Like the look of OSX?

Try this VERY cool Google start page:

I would use it as my homepage if I didn’t already have a customized Google News page as my hompage. That said, I’m trying to find as use for this.

UPDATE: Did you notice this link is dead? I followed it around 9:00PM last night after I noticed it was in the Google blog. But when I followed the link it was gone. There’s now a slashdot story on it. Could this be Apple Legal at work again?

What’s up with the last post?

Apparently a bunch of bloggers are trying to Google Bomb the word Online Poker to make the Wikipedia entry number one on Google’s results for the term. Sounded like an interesting experiment, though WikiPedia has been up and down all day.

The interesting thing is someone vandalized the page by redirecting the page to another entry they made of a man giving himself a blow-job (If you want to confirm that, it’s in the WikiPedia history of Online Poker). A few examples of some interesting online actions and online politics.

I read it all first on /. – here it is.

Online Poker
Learn how to play Poker, and Texas Hold’em! I enjoy it, though I prefer to play it not online.
It’s free!

Niagara Gorge Pictures

Winter pics As mentioned previously, I got a new iPod shipped to me from Apple. After my don’t-fuss-over-your-iPod-or-you’ll-get-obsessed-with-it policy failed I decided to get a skin for it. Unfortunately here in St. Catharines the only options left in store were pink, so I decided that this could be a flimsy pretext for a trip the Apple Store in Buffalo.

On the way back I decided to take a bit of a road trip through both sides of the Niagara gorge. I took pictures of the two power generation stations, pictures of the lake from the docks at Lewiston and the Brock Monument, then a quick stop through Naigara-On-The-Lake and then took some (I think) really cool pictures of the St. Catharines Dry Docks at night. These pictures reflect my own tastes for cool tones and engineering and monolithic subjects (Not that I’m any Ansel Adams, or Adam for that matter).

Winter pics The actual galleries are sorted by subject, and some of the tones don’t match because I played with the saturation for some cool surreal effects – but they break the continuity.
